We’re launching a product soon called NNCompass. It’s amazing. I’m completely in love with it. I have all these things to say about it, which vaguely resemble marketing copy (if I knew how to write that appropriately, and I do not). When I give a demonstration of NNCompass I can sound hyperbolic, and I have a hard time concealing my excitement for everything it can do. Sometimes the audience maybe leans back slightly in their chairs, or display any number of signals that could possibly indicate … well, caution, I guess might be the right word. I like to think it’s disbelief in what they’re seeing. Our COO, Lori Alexander, is always telling me to take a moment and breathe when I am talking about NNCompass. I can apparently talk for 15 minutes without coming up for air, which I realize isn’t optimal for people on the receiving end of that 15 minutes, like for instance when they have a question… I continue to be amazed at what the engineering team has built at NNData.
But I feel like I’m in a solid place, simply because I love NNCompass. It isn’t so much the fact that I had a hand in building and ideating it… it is belief. A true, and almost fanatical belief, that NNCompass can and will have a major impact on a large group of users and the data management, data wrangling, data integration, data streaming and the AI & machine learning (or what we like to refer to as “Smart Data” here at NNData) communities.
Never underestimate someones desire to be part of something though. Something great. I underestimated my desire to be part of a team creating a product that I think is changing an industry built around data management, the out-of-control costs associated with having to hire large data engineering teams with expertise in big data implementations, just so that you can ingest data and run an analytic or machine learning job against the data… How many people, how much time, and how big of a budget would you have needed to execute against that last sentence in 2017?
So instead of starting a blog about the advancements in machine learning and implications of AI, which I was going to name “Should I Say Thank You to Siri?”, I’m going to be talking a lot about a new system coming mid-July 2018 called NNCompass. You’re going to love it.
