Join the Data Science Institute for the inaugural fall 2018 Distinguished Lecture Series talk with Oscar Wood, Founder & CEO of NNData.

With experience working for the United States Army Command and the Alaska Child Support Enforcement Division, UVA Data Science Board member Oscar Wood is well versed in how to discover useful information and find meaningful solutions in seemingly uninterpretable raw data.

Wood currently serves as the founder and CEO of NNData, a data management company that analyzes and organizes original raw data sets into meaningful statistics.

“We focus on data preparation and management tools,” Wood said of his role at NNData. “We want to enable data scientists to focus on the methods and techniques of their craft, rather than the mundane, though necessary, data tasks.”

Wood knows that this kind of behind-the-scenes data work may not seem glamorous, but he also understands that effective data tools are the backbone to any successful enterprise or initiative.

“We allow the data scientists to be rock star chefs, while our tools and services are the prep cooks and dishwashers,” Wood explained.

Everyone Should Be Able to Create Smart Data.

You can do amazing things with data now. This is where everyone involved in bringing NNCompass to life talks about how your business can start using things like machine learning to create "Smart Data".

If any of this sound familiar to you, you're in the right spot...

  • I really want to take advantage of things like machine learning, and see what it can do for my business, but I don’t know where to start

  • I have a data problem. Too much, too different, coming in too quickly. I don’t have 4M USD to hire teams of people to overcome my data problems.

  • I wish I could ingest and get a handle on all of my data, not just beautifully structured CSV and XLS files, but all my emails, MS Word docs, Adobe PDFs.

  • I don’t have the resources or time to first hire data engineers, then data scientists just so I can start using machine learning algorithms to answer some of my most difficult business problem sets.
